I saw Snow White and Sleeping Beauty at Starbucks today

Snow White

I was at Starbucks getting my usual Caramel Macchiato and I saw two princesses walk into the store! They were two girls who looked like they were in high school or something that were dressed up. They looking so cute. There was one girl who was dressed as Snow White and I couldn’t tell who the other girl was supposed to be. The other girl was dressed in a huge pink dress. I was stumped on what character she was supposed to be so I asked, “I know you are supposed to be Snow White, (then looking at the girl in the pink dress) but who are you supposed to be?” The girl in the pink dress replied, “My, you don’t know your princesses very well do you?” I then smiled and nodded. She then said, “My friend is Snow White, and I am Sleeping Beauty!” I was really surprised to hear that because I had forgotten that Sleeping Beauty wore pink. But now I remember the scene in the end of the movie where her dress is changing colors from pink to blue.

I asked Sleeping Beauty earlier in their visit if they were on their way to a party or some kind of event and she said, “We’re just getting coffee!” I laughed and then Snow White said, “It’s been a long day in the castle.” I thought those girls were pretty funny. I love seeing people dressed up. Now it has been two days in a row that I’ve seen people in costume, the first day being the time I saw Iron Man at the movie theater. There is something special about seeing people dressed up. It’s like having a special moment added to your day which will make the memory stick around forever. I remember the time I dressed up as Toad from Super Mario Bros. 2 for Halloween in San Francisco. I went into my Biology class and took a test with this giant mushroom hat. Then on the bus guess what happened! I ran into Princess Peach and Super Mario! It was so funny. I even hung out with the two of them for the huge street party. It was a lot of fun.

This brings me to think about modern fashion. It seems that people’s clothing these days doesn’t look very costume-like. It is pretty functional clothing. I guess when you look at high fashion in big cities you notice people dressing up more. But usually, here in Southern California it seems like people wear exercise clothing in the morning and early afternoon. And in the evening men wear jeans and women wear shirts and dresses very rarely. It isn’t extremely exciting. I get a lot of comments on the T-Shirts that I wear and that’s usually because I’m wearing one of my 80’s Transformers shirts or my spaceship shirt. But when you think about it, people really notice clothing. Some people say your clothing is what people use to quickly ascertain your status and station in life. I seem to agree. I can almost tell if someone is homeless or not by this certain way the dirt cakes the clothing. And then people who are wearing expensive clean clothes often appear to be rich or put together. But looks can be deceiving.

My stomach feels really bad

My stomach feels like there are pins and needles in it. I think I may have food poisoning or something. I do not feel good. Maybe I will be able to see a doctor tomorrow. I’m not sure if the doctor will have any spots open for me. I feel like Houdini must have felt after he got hit by that fabled punch in the stomach.

Time is the vessel

Time is the vessel by which we reap.

The goals the dreams and how we sleep.

But when we rest we sometimes know.

The path the past the dew, the glow.

And as I wake and test the dream.

I hold it once…forever…and never.

The Point of the Sole

Huge Crystals

The Point of the Sole…The sole reason for doing what we do. It is the same reason why we exist. Something is driving us. As I try and figure out what this thing called, “life” is all about, I am faced with one question, “What is my purpose?” And when I figure out this question, will it bring me closer to happiness, closer to completion? Part of me thinks the quest for more information and interaction is part of the puzzle. For getting more knowledge seems to increase the size of the box, but I’m still working with a box. There is something to say about not backsliding, not going back on what I want to do. That’s part of what keeping vows are all about. As I look at huge crystal formations, I see vows that minerals and water have made with the earth. In exchange for a place to grow, the crystals record information in their highly organized structures. Can we learn from crystals? People can record information quite well. We have technology and memories. And every day the internet grows to store even more information. Just look at Wikipedia. It has grown to hold literally millions of articles so far. I’ve always had an inclination to store information. I like collecting good books and writing articles and writing in journals. There is a permanence to recording information, an immortality to it. I guess having kids must be kind of like this. Storing your genetic code in a new human being. Pretty cool stuff. People are little tablets of information. I bet there is a lot more inside our subconscious minds that is good information, but it’s just encoded differently from our conscious minds. This is probably like when you take your computer in to repair/regain information from lost sectors on your hard drive. Lately I’ve been feeling like I’m sedating myself. I’m not really that tired. I just loving sleeping. I guess that’s sloth. I need to cut that out. Does anyone know what I’m talking about? There’s this point when you’re falling asleep that you feel soooo good. It’s pleasurable. And it’s free pleasure. Well, not really. I pay for it in time spent on sleeping. I guess I could be blogging or working on math with that time. Maybe I’ll make that vow to myself. Yeah, I’ll try and get a max of 7 or 8 hours of sleep per day. I think blogging my vows to myself is a good idea. It’s kind of a positive way of using the internet. Publishing for a reason.

OK, so now that I’m here I’m going to write down some vows so I don’t forget them or discard them.

1. Sleep only when I need to. Not sleep for pleasure. And especially don’t sleep out of sloth.

2. Blog everyday. I’m doing a pretty good job of that now. But I can do better. More content would be good.

That’s a good start.
