I just got a shave and a haircut yesterday at the Coast Barber Shop in Corona del Mar. It was great! Fast Eddie wasn’t there yesterday so a great barber named Angel cut my hair. I was getting a shave and a haircut because I’m trying to wake up earlier. Basically I’m trying to motivate myself by shaving my beard as a way of saying I no longer want to be pulled around by my chin hairs in life. And I want to take control of what I do with myself. I want to blog more and wake up early.

So here’s how my shave and haircut went. First thing that happened was the shave. Angel sat me down in the chair and told me to put my feet up in the barber’s chair and he made me real comfortable. He then used clippers to cut off the beard and mustache. It felt weird to have so much hair removed from my face at once. I must have been growing my beard for at least 2-3 months. After that he leaned me back and covered my face in a hot towel. It was fun only being able to breathe out of my nose. Then Angel put some lotion on my face and massaged it in. He did a good job and I think this part is important because it helps prepare your face for the straight razor. Then he put warm shaving soap on me and started shaving away. He had skills with the straight razor and I was comfortable during the entire shave. I felt very little pulling pain and tugging that happens often during a straight razor shave.

Next Angel gave me a great haircut. He used clippers and scissors as usual but he took his time. There were people waiting in line to get their hair cut but Angel didn’t rush at all and gave me the full respect of someone who waited for his shave/haircut. I felt like I was a valued customer the entire time and after the haircut was all done I looked brand new. Today when I went into Starbucks to order my Caramel Macchiato, the Barista who knows me said I looked like I was 12 years old! I think he meant that I looked a lot younger. So go to Fast Eddie’s Coast Barbershop for a great Haircut and a Shave if you want to look fresh!

I need to start waking up early

I need to start waking up early and blogging.

I’ve been lazy lately. Well, not exactly lazy, I’ve been playing this game, Heroes of Newearth with my friends at nighttime when I used to usually blog. The game is fun, it’s a team based multiplayer Real Time Strategy game where you control a hero and try to attack enemy towers and heroes. But the problem is that each game takes about 30 minutes to an hour to play. And if you want to pause the game to go to the bathroom you have to vote on it. Yeah, no joke. Vote to see if you are allowed to take a 3 minute break. But the game is fun because a bunch of my friends from up North in San Francisco/San Jose area play it and it’s great to catch people online. But the time I’ve spent playing Heroes of Newerth over the past few weeks has interfered with my blogging.

One thing that I want to do is make something out my life…You know, be somebody. And how am I supposed to do that if I don’t blog? Blogging is something that helps me record my life a bit. And especially since that last post on “How’s our society and Culture Doing?” I’ve felt like I can vent on this website a bit and maybe be constructive and perhaps inspire a few people along the way. So I’ve decided that I’m going to shave my beard as a reminder for me to wake up earlier and blog. And I’m going to start to hit the gym more often too.

I need to take some of my own advice from my previous article and not allow myself to become entertained and complacent by short term pleasures like video games. Do I really have time to play video games? Not really. I should be using this blog as a way to inspire people to get off their duffs and achieve their dreams. Do I really need to be playing Heroes of Newerth in order to stay in touch with my friends? Nope. I could just sit in their Ventrillo channel and wait for them to come online if I really missed them. But in reality, blogging and talking with Jonathan Campos online and going to the occasional show is plenty of social contact. It’s just that blogging doesn’t give that “My eyeballs are hurting” kind of satisfaction that internet games does. Have you ever felt this before? Your eyes feel dry and sunken from staring at the screen in a fixed position for so long, darting about from character to character.

So here’s my plan. I am going to get a nice haircut and a shave from Fast Eddies. This is the Coast Barbershop here in Corona del Mar. This should cost me about $30.o0 plus tip. $15 for the Haircut and $15 for the Shave, but I’ll double check on that and post an article on Fast Eddie later. Maybe I’ll even write a review of Coast Barbershop. After that I’m going to start waking up early every day and blogging a bit. Maybe I’ll wake up at like 5:45AM so I have enough time to walk to Starbucks and get a Caramel Macchiato and then come back home and blog for a bit before I start my day. If I wake up early and blog and write a couple articles. When I get home I’ll consider playing Heroes of Newerth. But if I don’t wake up early and blog, then I won’t play Heroes of Newerth, it’s that simple. I guess right now I’m working out the details of taking control of my life, one media influence at a time.
