Zuzana from the Bodyrock.tv workout videos

I recently have gotten back into exercising. I’ve been going to the gym about 3 times per week. It’s not a lot but it’s a start. But Zuzana is REALLY into exercising. She does workouts that look very exhausting and I bet they burn calories fast. Check out the video and be careful if you actually try any of these exercises.

Tea Lattes are refreshing from Starbucks

Filed under: Reviews — Tyler @ 10:21 pm

I have a new favorite drink at Starbucks. It’s called the Tea Latte. I’ve seen the drink option on the menu for a while, but I didn’t really have the desire to try something new. I was satisfied with my Venti Caramel Macchiatos and Venti Lattes. But a few weeks ago, a genius Barista at my local Starbucks recommended the Tea Latte to me. It was a Venti Tea Latte with two tea bags of awake tea, water filled up more than half-way, some kind of syrup added to it and steamed milk with a little foam up to the top. The nutritional information is as follows:

Venti Awake Tea Latte – with 2% milk – 250 Calories – 6 grams total fat – Sodium 120 mg – 15mg Caffeine – 10g Protein

I was kind of surprised to see that there were 250 calories in a Venti Awake Tea Latte. The reason being because it is mostly water. It really makes me wonder how many calories are in the Venti Caramel Macchiato…let me check…whoa! A whole milk Venti Caramel Macchiato has 340 calories. That’s a lot. But probably not as many calories as the Bacon Burger I ate for dinner.

It may not seem like much, but shaving 90 calories off a drink that you have everyday is significant. If you think about drinking the Tea Latte I mentioned earlier everyday instead of the Venti Whole Milk Caramel Macchiato, then I will have saved 90 calories x 30 days in a month, which is…2700 calorie savings! That’s an entire day’s worth of calories. So if I drink Tea Lattes instead of Caramel Macchiatos it will be like I ate a whole lot less. I still like Caramel Macchiatos tho, so I think I will drink those until I explode caramel everywhere.

Tonight I’m not exactly sure what kind of Tea Latte I got. I didn’t specify what kind of tea I wanted. And the tea seems to be pretty fragrant, with a strong aftertaste…so I’m guessing it is an Earl Grey Tea Latte. This one is pretty good and it is very flavorful so I have been sipping it instead of gulping the Awake version. I’m not sure which one I like more. They both are good. So I’m happy. I think I’ll alternate between the two.

You can really taste that you are getting less calories. The drink is much lighter than a Venti Latte or Caramel Macchiato.

Barnes and Noble has cool and affordable journals

Hemp Journal

Hemp Journal from Barnes and Noble

A few months ago I bought a great leather journal from Barnes and Noble in Irvine Spectrum Mall. I spent a good deal of time in their nice journal section, browsing around. There were two journals that really caught my eye. The leather one that I ended up buying, and the Nepal Handcrafted Hemp Journal pictured to the left. The Hemp journal looked so cool and felt great too. It had a little less than 50 pages and was very soft. The journal was handmade and every page looked different. They each had strings of material inside them that had thin pieces of color. You can buy this journal from Barnes and Noble’s website, here’s a link – as of today it is about $11 plus tax. I really liked the journal but the only reason why I didn’t get it was because I was looking for a journal with a few more pages and hopefully with lined pages. So I looked at the leather journal and was impressed by the heavy weight of it. It had about 200 pages or more and was made of handcrafted leather from Italy. The cover was very thick and it was obvious that the journal was sturdy and could protect the pages inside it. On the front cover was a heavy metal symbol of an owl that was embedded into the cover. It was glued in place and was circular. I like owls and I thought that the owl was very fitting for me. Another cool thing about the journal that I bought was that it had lined paper. I really like lined paper on a journal that I am going to use for consistent entries because it is great for keeping the journal clean and organized. The Hemp journal above wasn’t lined but I liked that one too because journals that don’t have lines are great for expressing creativity and no holding back.

There were a lot of other journals there at the Irvine Spectrum Barnes and Noble. There was a whole wall section on the right hand of the store to be exact. The journal I ended up buying was $40.00 plus tax. Now you may be thinking that’s a lot of money for a journal. But I use it all the time and I really love it. Investing $40 in a journal that you want to last forever isn’t really that much money. When I saw the price I wasn’t really surprised because the journal is very heavy and sturdy and has a metal owl. I use the journal to write ideas for stories, I think and plan about how to make overidon.com a better website, I also use to to branstorm on invention ideas. Looking back, I am really glad I bought the journal.

Having a journal can be very spiritual and intimate. You can write down your innermost thoughts and remember things that you were thinking and feeling years later when you open up the journal. It is like going into a time capsule and seeing part of yourself. Sometimes you will read your journal and feel like a different person. And other times reading the journal will make you realize that there are parts of you that are totally unique, and are worthy of remembering and possibly incorporating into your current personality. Maybe there was a piece of confidence that you had in the past that you’d like to bring back to the foreground.

Here’s a link to Barnes and Noble.com’s journals.

Contact is one of the best movies of our generation

Contact - Transport

Contact - 1997 Film Distributed by Warner Bros.

Contact, a film by Robert Zemeckis is an amazing Science Fiction / Drama. It is a movie that talks about Religion and Spirituality, and Science. The reason why I think it is one of the best movies of our generation is because it poses multiple questions that are important to us. The first question is, “Are we alone in the Universe?” The movie centers around a signal that a scientist listens to that comes from deep space. Inside that signal are blueprints and instructions for creating a massive machine that can send a single human in a futuristic transport. I’m not going to give any more away about the story because I don’t want to spoil it. But the way that the story is presented is extremely cool and well done. They use footage of Bill Clinton when he was President and make it look like he is talking about the discovery. The film also uses CNN and other realistic looking broadcasts to give the movie a very believable feel. There is great pacing in this long movie and you stay interested in the main character who is played by an excellent actress, Jodie Foster. The acting by all the people in the film is top notch. One of the antagonists, played by James Woods is very funny and believable. The comments that he makes are perfectly timed and carry a lot of weight. There is a scene where James Woods sees an image decoded from the signal and he says, “…ok” in such a way that is totally hilarious. He basically takes the words right out of your mouth.

Contact is such a great movie because you care so much about the film. You care deeply about the main character, you care about her friends, you care about their mission, you worry for the main character’s safety. The film gets you emotionally involved in the story and never lets you go. The storytelling is top tier and for a movie that isn’t an action movie with gunshots and blood, it is amazingly entertaining and fun. I have seen Contact several times and I am debating watching it again because of this review. It is that good. If you are a religious person or a scientific person, or both, you will probably like this movie because it covers several key arguments in those fields.

The energy buildup and excitement in this movie is fantastic. There are scenes where it looks like tons of people are celebrating the news of alien contact.
