If you are in the East Bluff area and you want pizza, then look no further than Z-Pizza. Today I ordered 2 medium pizzas. They were the Ham and Pineapple pizza and the Peperoni and Mushroom pizza. They were delicious and had the perfect balance of cheese and sauce. The vegetables and ham tastes fresh and the pineapple was tender and juicy without being too squishy. I ate the peperoni and mushroom pizza first. It was very tasty. Each bite was a flavor adventure. I could taste the difference between the areas that had more mushrooms or more slices of peperoni. It gave a varied flavor to each slice. This was fun because I didn’t get bored with the pizza. Sometimes when I eat peperoni and mushroom pizzas the flavor of the mushrooms seems to leak from the mushrooms and permeate the entire pie. But in the case of Z-Pizza they do an excellent job. They separate the flavors and let them stand on their own. The result is a very rewarding and exciting slice of pizza, time and time again.

The Ham and Pineapple pizza was the best Hawaiian style pizza I’ve had in years. The ham was the perfect thickness. And each piece was tender enough to tear easily with the teeth, yet it didn’t taste soggy. The amazing thing is that even though the crust is generally on the thinner side. It was structurally strong enough to hold the pineapple on the slice when pulling it away from the rest of the pie. The pieces stayed on the slice even when I lifted it up. You just have to make sure to give enough support to the entire slice. This is because on my first try I grabbed it by the crust only and the pineapple fell off due to gravity. I’m not saying the slices droop. It’s just that the crust isn’t thick enough to make it support itself without your entire hand. I recommend your fingers to be in the position of upside-down spider’s legs.

The sauce in the pizzas is a mild sauce that tastes like it is more on the fresh tomato side of things. It isn’t sweet and that’s a real plus. I despise sweet sauce. It is very fresh tasting. And they add enough of the sauce to the pizza to make it complete and thoroughly flavorful. The sauce accents the cheese and toppings and doesn’t overpower the taste.

I only have good things to say about this pizza at Z-Pizza. It has the flavor, consistency, amount of toppings and texture to make it a perfect pizza pie. I am excited to try different flavors and toppings. My only warning is that the pizzas aren’t cheap. For two medium two-topping pizzas it cost $37 plus tip. That is pretty expensive for pizza. But in Newport Beach, I’ve haven’t found anything that compares to the taste that is able to beat the price. Also, you shouldn’t really be eating pizza everyday anyway. So if you are going to eat pizza in Newport Beach and East Bluff, you might as well spend the extra few dollars and buy a good one.

The Beacon Bay car wash on Newport Center Drive has new benches

Beacon Bay Car Wash

Newport Beach, CA 92660

SUMMER HOURS: 8AM – 6PM (5PM on Sundays)

WINTER HOURS: 8AM – 5PM

The Beacon Bay car wash on Newport Center Drive has new benches installed! This is excellent because they used to use very worn out blue cushion benches that didn’t do much except remind you that they have been used over and over again. The new benches are made of plastic coated metal. The metal is a sort of mesh diamond shape. At first I didn’t think the benches would be comfortable but I was surprised because they actually felt good. It was like sitting in one of those mesh chairs made of bungee cords. Except I like the bungee cord chairs a lot more. The benches look great and they have a nice yellowish-plastic look to them. I was able to relax and read my book while waiting for my 2009 Subaru to get washed.

The cool thing is that the Beacon Bay has a gas station fill up area that you can use right when you get there. I like that because they don’t overcharge too much for their gas. I like to fill up and get a wash at the same time in order to be more efficient in my life. As for the prices of the car wash, I chose the “Bright Wash.” That costs about $18 plus tax and tip. They wash the car and vacuum the insides. They also clean the tires a bit. I don’t think it includes wax or anything. But if you ask they will give you free air freshener. I personally like the Pina Colada scent. I tried the “New Car” smell before and it smelled like a vehicle that transports dead people. So I do not recommend that one.

They do a pretty good job on the wash. They use a machine to wash most of the car and then the do some hand washing and detail work on the vehicle. Another plus is that they usually don’t mess with my radio, because I hate it when people change the station or switch off my CD. That bugs me.

They have a snack food area. The snack selection is pretty extensive. There are chips, drinks and candy. Beacon Bay also sells trinkets like air fresheners and other items for your vehicle.

And old man with two little dogs using a walker tried opening to door to get outside today. He was struggling with the door so I opened the door for him. He was really happy about that. He said thanks multiple times. That felt good.

The Raw Figs from Trader Joes are sweet and delicious

Filed under: Reviews — Tyler @ 3:58 pm

I just ate about eight figs. They were sweet and delicious. The figs were purchased at Trader Joe’s and I was overwhelmingly impressed by the texture, flavor, freshness and subtlety. I usually don’t like eating figs at all. They were kind of squishy and soft to the touch, very tender. The taste was like a mix between a slightly crunchy date and a raisin. In past I’ve eaten figs and they were either sweetened using sugars and other sweeteners and I didn’t really enjoy them. They tasted fake. But these raw figs from Trader Joe’s were so scrumptious I was able to eat tons of them before lunch started. Another interesting thing about the figs is that they aren’t too filling. I was able to eat them without loosing my appetite. If you look at the picture to the top left of this post you’ll see my artistic interpretation of how I feel when I eat these figs. The energy light beams coming from the figs are their pizazz.

Government Spending Charts and Graphs

US Government Spending

US Government Spending Charts and Graphs

Have you ever wondered how much money the government has been spent on things like education, the military, and pensions? Well I found a cool website that shows that information in both bar graph and line format. It also shows tables which shows the percent of GDP that is spent on the specific areas. The website is called usgovernmentspending.com and it is a great resource. This would be a great website to use if you needed information for your economics class or social commentary paper. I foresee that I will definitely make use of this website for future articles. The website was created and executed by Mr. Christopher Chantrill. I think this is a website that everyone who is a US Citizen needs to visit at least once in his/her lives. The reason why is that you get to see first hand what kind of money is being spent on what. I was disappointed to see that we only spend about 1% of our total GDP on education. I just think that education should be a bigger priority than that. Because if we don’t have an educated population, then what’s the point of being here? When I looked up how much of a percentage of our GDP was being spent on our national debt I was appalled. The number was so high that I don’t even feel comfortable talking about it on overidon.com it really is that bad. If you want to see the chart that I looked at then click on this link and look it up for yourself.

OK. If this kind of money is being spent on the national debt, then what are the people who get that money spending it on? Because we are seriously talking about trillions of dollars here. I’m starting to feel paranoid so I don’t want to talk about this anymore.

So yeah, graphs are good. I just looked up a graph that was on the government spending on transportation It seems that we spend about .6% of our GDP for 2009. That’s an interesting number. According to the chart that number is estimated to jump by quite a bit as 2010 rolls out.

I was looking at the defense spending charts and those were interesting. They really weren’t as high as I expected. They were much higher than education and transportation spending. But that makes sense. In any simulation that I’ve run that deals with civilizations. If you don’t spend good money on your military you end up with hostile forces opening up shop in your capital city. It really is as simple as that.

Overall usgovernmentspending.com is a MUST-HAVE resource to add to your bookmark collection if you care at all about what’s going on in the USA.
