Midnight Morph

This actually happened at 6 in the morning but it was the results of decisions that took place at midnight. I didn’t go to bed until around 3am because I had watched the final film of the Matrix Trilogy. I didn’t begin viewing Matrix Revolutions until 12:45 in the morning because I like to wait until midnight to check statistical reports. This was the third night of my Matrix marathon, tonight I’m looking forward to the Animatrix.

I’ve seen all these films repeatedly mind you. But it is safe to say that they are good checkpoints for progress. What character am I in the film? Cypher or Morpheus. The AI face in Revolutions or Neo? The only problem is that I ate a tremendous amount of food and snacks during the previous day. I delineate snacks from food because snacks are for monsters.

I ate a pounded chicken breast, vegetarian chili, egg rolls, french fries, pieces of chocolate, and at midnight I ate some fruit and cereal. Everything seemed fine and I actually had room for more food. I went to the gym earlier that day and the day before. The girl at the front desk knows me by name now and that’s a good sign that I’m being more consistent.

But a after I finished watching Matrix Revolutions I went to sleep. When my dog woke me up three hours later I gladly got up and put on my clothes to take Harvest for a walk. But I felt really heavy and odd. My body was like an uncomfortable suit and I was a little confused by how strange I felt.

Then I looked at my stomach in the mirror and I was literally huge. It looked like I had gained 25 pounds.

I was morphing before my very eyes.

So I took Harvest for a walk and tried to not make direct eye-contact with anyone just in case.

Then I went back home and went to sleep for anoter three hours. “I hope this morphing stuff figures itself out before school,” I thought to myself.

When I awoke I felt much better and I was back to normal. I’m not exactly sure what was going on but I think all those snacks had something to do with it.

Ok, now I’m going to get to the real-deal stuff before I forget about it. I was thinking yesterday that the world we live in is real or not real, it doesn’t really matter. But when we sleep, that is even more real. Deep sleep. The strange place where strange dreams emerge and sublimate time and time again.

I’ve heard many interesting thoughts and theories regarding this subject. But my own experience leads me to think that the mind isn’t exactly what we experience here when we are asleep. I cometely disagree with the idea that the mind deals with overloaded thoughts of the day in a sort of mental “defrag” while we sleep. That in no way matches up with my most recent experiences.

Last week I meditated on a Sumerian word-sign. It was the symbol for “bright” and/or “sacred” (among other things). Now, I’ve had an ongoing interest in the ancient Sumerians for many years. And I’ve felt that quite possibly, in a past life, I may have been a Sumerian.

So I meditated on the symbol for a while, then I entered into guided meditation and fell asleep in my chair for over an hour. After I brushed my teeth and went to bed, I entered into a deep sleep. This was probably because I was so relaxed.

But when I slept I had a dream about school. And after that I had a strange and extremely vivid and simple dream that was actually in color.

All I could see was a large horizontally oriented piece of grey stone. The stone was very smooth with signs of wear and tear on the edges. But in the center of the stone, was a symbol that looked extremely similar to he the Sumerian word that I was meditating on earlier that night. The image stayed there for a long time. I could see nothing but the stone and the symbol.

Yet there was something interesting about the symbol. It was drawn in a style that was very strikingly similar to Viking or Norse runes.

Since I know very little about Vikings and am not familiar with any runes, the next night I decided to go online and look up a list of common Viking runes. And to my surprise, the symbol I saw in my dream was the exact rune called, “kenaz.” The rune was a perfect match in proportion and orientation. And when I looked up possible meanings for kenaz, several sources said the rune meant, torch of light. And others said it had meanings related to the light of creativity.

Astounded by this, I went downstairs and looked at my family tree on my father’s side. It said my ancestor “Stansfeld” was a lord who traveled with William the conqueror to the British isles a long time ago.

Reforestation of the United States of America

Forest in South America

There are three interesting trends in the United States of America, that have synergistic potential to do something great for this country…reforestation. At first glance, these trends may seem alarming and forebode the worst for our future, but when we look at them in conjunction with one another, they present opportunities. These opportunities would not have been logistically feasible if it were not for the existence of the problems themselves. The first trend is that costs of fuel and other basic products are increasing without a tremendous increase in the average wages of wage laborers when inflation is taken into account. It doesn’t really matter if this trend is a manufactured trend, or if it is a real transition based on previously establish social and economic systems. The effect of this trend has very real results.

When the costs of fuel goes up, and if purchasing power stays the same or gets worse, then mobility decreases. This makes it so people need to make serious decisions on where they work, where they play, and how far they are willing to travel to get there. So the second trend is that people are starting to move closer to the cities. Sometimes people consider moving directly into cities that may have seemed less than ideal in previous decades.

The reason for this influx into the cities is because it makes zero sense to spend twenty dollars a day in fuel just to get to work, if you only make 100 dollars a day. That means you spent one-fifth of your time at work just to pay for your gasoline. It is ridiculous at best.

But with the influx of jobs and people moving into urban areas, there is often an increase in demand for fresh fruits and vegetables. Even though not all city dwellers can usually afford to pay for higher quality food-stuffs, many of the executives and self-employed individuals are willing to pay top dollar for their food. This is especially true in areas where people are health and/or physical appearance conscious.

So the first trend was the increase of fuel prices and the stagnation of wage laborers’ wages, and the second was the movement into cities and demand for high quality vegetables and fruits. But the third trend is not quite as apparent, but nonetheless very real. It is an increase in the public discourse on the concept of Vertical Farms.

Quite simply, a big farm in a skyscraper in or near a city will require less fuel to transport the foodstuffs into that city.

Right now, many of the fruits and vegetables that are in the grocery store may travel between 50 and 1,000 miles or more to get there. It is a highly fuel-inefficient process that may not hold up under the increased stresses on fossil fuel prices.

But if the United States of America became more food independent on a city level, then what would happen to the huge horizontal farms in the center of the country?

There is a tremendous amount of debate on this subject. First of all, not all of the farms in the center of the USA will ever go away. They are just too profitable for agribusiness that export to other countries. And this helps with the trade imbalances that we are currently experiencing.

But that being said, if US cities profitably engaged in vertical farming, then there may not be a huge need for as many farms in the center of the country. So one thing that can happen with that land, is that private companies such as corporations and sole proprietorships can purchase the land. Or wealthy individual citizens could purchase the land. Once the land is acquired, the former farms can be converted into fallow grasslands, and in about 30 years or so, they can become the beginnings of forests.

Now you may be thinking, why would businesses or citizens want to literally invest billions of dollars and 30+ years just so there can be forests again the USA?

Well, the reason for this is that there are very subtle advantages that a nation-state can have if it has a large and bio-diverse forest system. One thing to consider is that in the South American rain forest, there are lots of plants and animals being born and dying all the time. This is a very normal cycle of life. But what happens to all the dead stuff? Quite simply, mushrooms eat the dead stuff, and feed the nutrients back into the soil and trees.

There are underground mushroom systems that span hundreds and even thousands of square miles. Nobody truly knows how dense the fungal filaments are, but your house or apartment may be built on top of one of these systems. These systems of mushrooms keep the balance of the rain forests and keep biodiversity expanding.

Now, it is very unlikely that a rain-forest could ever exist in the United States. But it is very likely, that given enough time, a large enough forest system with limited human interaction could become a mega-dense forest with high biodiversity.

The advantage of having a massive system of biodiversity within one’s own nation-state is that it has been proven time and time again, that there are billions upon billions of dollars worth of potential technology in the medical and other fields within dense forests. The denser the forest, the more potential for technology.

Extracting information from forests requires specialists and highly educated and/or trained people. And converting the information gathered into actual products and advancements, takes entire teams. So there isĀ  huge employment potential.

But let’s not forget about the mushroom systems under the ground. Some people ascribe to a Gaia theory that the planet is alive and other stuff. Yet none of that really matters. There are mushrooms that want to recycle dead stuff. And if the citizens of the United States of America allow a dense forest system to exist in the middle of the country, the fungal system itself may actually reward us.

An obvious and very likely reward would be increased soil nutrients. But the ones that I am most interested are the more invisible ones. Since trees can effect weather patterns, due to how they control moisture levels, then our country could benefit from a greater forest. And since we know that the magnetic pole of the Earth is changing, there could be unknown positive consequences by allowing large ecosystems to live uninhibited by human beings within our very country.

Recall Recall and Recall Total Recall the Musical

Total Recall: The Musical

Total Recall: The Musical - CLICK to listen

I’ve already discussed in a previous article how supreme the film, “Total Recall” is. But to my surprise and delight, the incredible duo known as, “jonandal” have created a musical based on the film Total Recall. They call it, “Total Recall: The Musical.” The musical is short, only about 3 minutes long. But it packs a serious punch. I’ve watched the video and listened to the song about 10 times in the past 3 days. The reason why it is so good is because the singing is excellent, and the play on the melodic themes of the original film were done stylistically and with ultimate precision. There is a juxtaposition of the motivations of the “Quaid” character, with the realities of domestic life. But when we see Quaid on Mars, most notably climbing the mountains of Mars, we feel like that is the reality. But then it shifts back with the music to a normal life on Earth. It’s an eerie feeling…and the synth-horn sounds truly keep our minds on the whole process of adventure mixed with deja-vu.

At the end of the musical, there is a background chorus of, “Recall, Recall, Recall!” and it is truly splendid. It pulls the mind into a place that can only be analyzed through experience. I’m hoping that this song can be added to the special features of a new Blue-Ray for the film. That would be incentive enough for me to buy a Blue-Ray player.

New Newsletter in progress and user account pruning

Filed under: Overidon News — Tyler @ 1:28 am

Overidon.com is in the process of making a new quarterly newsletter. The first installment will be released January 1st, 2012. The newsletter will be about 3 pages long and will feature funny things that have been happening and some information that may or may not already be available on the website.

Since we have had some new security features at overidon.com we had to prune the user accounts. This is because we are preparing for a surge in visitors due to the upcoming music video release (tenative release date is June 25th, 2011. Because of this we have added additional security for registering for the site. And we also deleted a lot of inactive users.

If you have found that your account was deleted in error, then please re-register for the site. There should be some kind of puzzle thing that you will need to solve in order to register, that helps us fight against Russian bots that are a nuisance.

A great way to make it so you don’t get deleted in the future is to setup a “Gravatar” that you can access by clicking HERE. A gravatar basically makes it so if you go to any major blog or wordpress based website your chosen picture will appear. It’s a good way to show that you aren’t a bot.

Sorry for any inconvenience, but please, if you have been deleted as a user go ahead and re-register. That way you will be included when the 2012 newsletter goes out.

Thank you.
