Rough Concept for Desal and Coal Plant combo

Filed under: Innovation — Tyler @ 8:28 pm

Here’s my quick concept for a Desalinization Plant and Coal Power Plant combination.

1) Take a coal power plant and plug the smoke stacks into a kelp/algae Tiered Vertical Wafer Farm System.

2) Take a desalinization plant and plug that into the coal power plant and also in the Tiered Vertical Wafer Algae System (TVWAS).

3a) A TVWAS is a building that has different levels. On each level there are thin layers of water pools that are set up to receive the input of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) into the water. There is a layer of algae and or kelp that uses the CO2 in each pool or wafer to grow and reproduce and basically eat the CO2 as best as the algae can.

3b) There are processes described on Wikipedia that discuss scrubbing the Sulfur and other non CO2 out of the coal so that would need to be done before the CO2 hits the TVWAS.

3c) The TVWAS would get the water it needs for the wafers from the byproduct partially brine water from the Desal Plant.

This is just a rough concept. I’ll add more to this later. There are some problems with it, especially zoning and other things. But I really like to idea of using critters to absorb CO2. Also the algae when it blooms to densely in the wafers could be used for other purposes. Some of those uses could be for adding already made blooms of algae into desert regions of the ocean. I’m not sure if the algae could be used for food, but perhaps it could be used for fertilizer or some other purpose.

UPDATE – April 30th, 2011:  There is a new diagram related to this rough concept – CLICK HERE to view.

Good Example of Juking in Heroes of Newerth

Juking Example

Good Juking Example

Juking in Heroes of Newerth is important because it allows you to use your environment to get away from an enemy hero that is chasing you. The basic concept is that you walk in one direction, then wait for the environment to obscure your visibility to your enemy. Then when they can’t see you for a split second, you make a choice. You either choose to change directions or you choose to stay in the current more obvious path. A good juke means that the enemy wasn’t able to anticipate what direction you went in, and you are able to escape. Some skills like being able to leap, or turn invisible can assist in making the perfect juke. But the basic concept of using trees or rocks or elevation to obscure one’s location and moving in a non-intuitive direction can work wonders even if you have a hero that has no special movement abilities.

In this video, Valkyrie is being chased by two enemies. She uses her jump ability as well as the cover of the trees to avoid Pestilence. She also tricks Pestilence to follow her through the trees that are near her team’s tower and he ends up getting creep blocked by a normal little tree creep unit. The problem is that the tower is still firing at him. So he is a juicy target for the Valkyrie. Theretofore the Pestilence was the attacker who was chasing his prey, but a turn of events turned the tables quite so.

Big thanks to Zombies100 for posting this video on YouTube!

Jordash the Alien napkin art or message from the stars

Jordash the Alien

Jordash the Alien - CLICK to enlarge!

I didn’t know that YouTube was posting live stuff from Coachella. This is pretty cool. Kings of Leon is playing in Channel 1 right now and the picture quality and sound quality is great, especially for my sassy internet connection. I think Jordash is appreciating the show right now. He’s an alien that I drew on my napkin at Jack in the Box. When I drew him, I felt like he was opening communication from another world. Sure, it could just be napkin art. I concede that fact. But Jordash is more than just a passerby…he’s an Ambassador of sorts. With his left arm and hand outstretched he both consoles and summons me. I feel respect and appreciation as well as a deep seated fear of his agendas. Beneath those almond eyes are plans within plans and he understands my weaknesses with his clenched right fist that drags upon the floor.

This online webcast is very nice. I’ve never seen a live webcast with so many camera angles before. Whoever is directing the feed is doing a great job of keeping the angles interesting. And it even looks good full screen. Very nice.

This is impressive because YouTube has been mostly a repository for already created works. But if it starts to delve into this live stuff this could be something big. The “Connect with Twitter” thing is cool too, because I doubt that it counts toward comment post counts. This is because you are tweeting the comments in real time. Excellent idea. That way it won’t send a warning because someone is making too many comments.

Joke of the Day

Your face. Haha just kidding, ok here we go.

Yeah it was a real bummer. My old bus driver, who happens to be a banana got fired the other day.

He got canned for peeling out whenever he dropped off the kids.
