Tyler and Harvest reporting LIVE

Harvest and I are reporting live on the developments of the earthquake’s effect on Newport Beach. It is 8:58AM right now, and the Tsunami was supposed to have hit 14 minutes ago. But we both agreed that it might be a better idea to report from the Starbucks about 5 miles inland. So actually we can’t see anything. But that’s a good thing because I don’t like the idea of an 8.9 Earthquake in Japan. When you get to Richter scale numbers of earthquakes over 8.0 anything can happen. One common misconception is that there is linear progression of earthquake intensity from a 1.0 to a 2.0, but that is not the case. Actually the scale numbers go up in magnitudes of 10. So a 2.0 earthquake is actually 10 times stronger than a 1.0 earthquake. So when you start getting to the 8.0 and above, we are talking about extremely powerful Earthquakes.

Ok, I’m at 48% percent battery life on my laptop, and Harvest isn’t allowed inside so I need to keep this report short. I’m hearing at least one helicopter in the area, but I haven’t seen anyone really worried about this possible tsunami. Some reports are saying the waves were only 2 feet tall. So that’s not even up to my belly button, so I’m not too concerned about that. Harvest might be worried but she can dog paddle so she’s a good swimmer.

It’s still to early to say what’s going to happen, so Harvest and I are going to stick around for at least another hour.
