Ancient Tents
Maim said, “A long time ago before anything you know, your race was living on the planet that you call Earth, you were less technologically advanced but you were conscious and intelligent, your civilization was living in small leather houses and used to share everything for the good of the group.”
Chris, “Leather houses? Sounds like Native Americans.”
Maim said, “Perhaps, but you were very peaceful and really organized as a whole back then, none like any other modern civilization that I have heard. By that time when we first discovered your planet we visited you and we studied you asking permission of course in first place, we found a lot about your race you had a lot of potential. By then you called your planet Terra and you called each other Terrans.”
Chris, ¨I see…¨
Maim said while nodding, “But the Catarax also found about your planet and race, and went to investigate the planet, they detected a big quantity of the material they use for common weapon and spacecraft construction in the core of the planet so they decided to make a camp for extraction. The Catarax didn’t care about your race or your planet at all, so they killed thousands of your kin, while demolishing the planet. Also they investigated you they studied you and they discovered something better than the material they went to get.”
Maim looked sad when speaking about it, “As you know by now every living thing has something special encrusted in his genetics.”
Chris, “Yeah I understand that part.”
Maim, “Well your race had something different, you don’t have an ability outside but inside, you can be merged with any other being via genetic manipulation. What I mean is that your race can adapt to almost any being out there, giving you the ability to be mergeable with any other race.”
Chris, “And what is the purpose of that?”
Maim, “By merging you would receive the ability of the race with what you were merged.”
Chris, “So we can accumulate the abilities of others.”
Maim, “Only one per being, as soon as your genetic material recombines with another one it absorbs the characteristics of the other, also losing the capacity to recombine again.”
Chris, “So only the first time works.”
Maim, “The Catarax realized this and planned to harvest you and nurture you to become their slaves, for production and military purposes. They prepared a special genetic material that had a portion of a weakened link and a portion of the ability they wanted from other being in the galaxy. And they mutated each one of your race in a big hunt they organized in your planet. They chose how many beings were going to be mutated of each specific ability so when they reproduced, more beings would become of that special type in the number they wanted. The weakened link in the material was to keep dormant the ability you had until a number specific of years had passed allowing you to reproduce in great numbers. Also thanks to this recombination none of your race remembered what happened or what they were and you were more dormant and less aware of everything as before. They also created another type of material with a portion of their own material and they put it on certain individuals of your race; the chosen ones they called. These chosen were the elite, the kings and queens of your world that were there to control the rest of the population secretly while knowing thanks to history that they keep who their masters are and what is their mission. This also explains why so many wars occurred after that, your race was divided forever with many beings having different emotions, feelings and perceptions of the world. So it was harder to get along with each other since you no longer could understand each other. Also your leaders were taught to make you feel weak and remain under silent and stupid about everything.”
Chris, “What happen to the originals beings of my race? Were they all changed?”
Maim, “Unfortunately all of you were changed.”
Chris, “… and what happened next?”
Maim, “After modifying every being of your race and setting the stage for the new way your civilization was going to grow, the Catarax left your planet keeping a close eye always on your development. They visited in very small groups from time to time to see that everything worked perfectly. In fact from time to time they were spotted by people who not knowing what they were. They started to spread rumors of demons and monsters that you know now as legends and old tales. Since the first group of your race was mutated because you no longer remembered anything you were told a false story about you were born to serve your kings and queens since they had the holy right to rule and also you were told to be called human and that your planet was called Earth. Human is a Catarax’s code name for, tool and Earth is a code name for, Depot.”
I remained silent for a while looking at the ground without knowing what to do of all this information. Too many changes on everything that I knew.
Maim, “You are the first of your race to know this information in a long time and you are responsible for telling the others when you see appropriate but first you must know everything that is at risk.”
Chris, “Everything?”
Maim, “Long before we discovered your planet, there was a war between many races in the universe. The Catarax is not the only race that thinks that the universe should be theirs; there are others who think that are superior to any other race and should be the masters of everyone, they wanted to control everything and make us their slaves. So this struggle went on for many years. And my race as many other allied races fought against the Catarax and his allies. Although the allies of the Catarax are less than our allies, they are more powerful and prepared for war so they were strong enemies. Nevertheless all our allies and us fought bravely to stop our enemies. The war seemed like it was never going to stop, our forces and theirs were equal. There was a lot lost already from each side of the battlefield. Many planets were destroyed and many beings died. Because of that both sides got to the conclusion that a treaty of peace was required since the war was going to let us to nothing. The Catarax and their allies didn’t want to recognize it but they did it anyway since there was no progress on any side of the war. So the treaty was done and each race accorded to not attack any other race nevertheless the treaty didn’t include your planet. So when the Catarax found about your special genetic material and the possibilities, they made their move and they decided that your race was going to be the key into winning the war for their side.”
Chris, “And you let us perish because of your war?”
Maim, “There was 2 things stopping us from helping you, first because of the treaty we couldn’t interfere or attack the Catarax to rescue you and second and most important our ideologies does not allow us to change or modify the transition of any race without their consent. You see you probably understand by now that we don’t want to interfere with things when we are not asked to, that brings consequences and every action that you do brings the responsibility of taking care. If we helped you we would be held responsible for your future and fate.”
Chris, “Well, that’s what you just did.”
Maim, “After a lot of time of meditation and consideration we decided we had to help you. We study the universe so we can know how we should behave and live and at the beginning of our journey. We learned that we cannot help others if they don’t want to be helped and that we cannot interfere in the fate of someone else because we would have to be responsible forever for that being. But now the universe seemed to be teaching us that we have to do well to others and do not concentrate on the result of it but in doing charity and help to others with all our will. By helping others we help ourselves was the message of the universe to all us. We had to share our peace knowledge with others and help others to grow up with the best of our intentions. Still, we had to help you in a way we wouldn’t provoke another war. So we waited for the right moment. And now that many years have passed and most of the weakened link on your genetics has banished now you are becoming more aware once again. Contrary to your belief, genetics is always changing… faster for some than others.”
Chris, “So, you are violating your main beliefs by helping us?”
Maim, “We are learning constantly so nothing is forever.”
Chris, “So all this means that everyone or most of the people are still alive on Earth.”
Maim, “Yes, now they will be educated as the tools they were meant to be for the Catarax and your education is partially complete thanks to the decisions and schemes your leaders were doing according to the previous plans of the Catarax that set them in there in the first place.”
Chris, “And what is the idea, are we just to stay in here while they do everything there. Are you going to attack them finally?”
Maim, “No, you will, you must rescue your own kin without us interfering in that battle for the plan to work.”
Chris, “So, you already have a plan?”
Maim, “Yes, a plan to finally end this war. You must become stronger than ever before in the few years your brothers on Earth have left. Destiny put you in a situation where you must learn about the universe quickly and pick a side on this war whether it is by force or by decision. We all await the result of your decision as we have now interacted with you by rescuing you hence our fates are together now.
