I need to take a break from dairy products. I got a sore throat last night and now I sound like the chocolate rain guy. Multiple Lattes per day, plus cereal with milk in the morning, plus chocolate based deserts took their toll on my immune system. Probably what happened is that my parasites really like the warm milk from the lattes. This is due to the sugar content in the milk. Also I’ve been eating a bunch of sugary snacks like Double Chocolate Brownies from Starbucks and the Chocolate Overload Cake from Jack in the Box. So in order to counteract the dairy in my system I am drinking hot green tea. And I’m drinking a lot of water also. This should flush out my sore throat. When I get sick, unless my problem is really serious like when I had pancreatitis, I usually get better by eating less food and staying away from strong caffeine and dairy. I think there is something to do with the mucus that builds up as a result of dairy products.
I remember when I was working at a coffee shop in San Francisco. For some reason I got a cold. But I couldn’t take time off work or call in sick, because I couldn’t risk losing my job. So I fought the cold by drinking tons of hot tea. This seemed to flush out the illness. But the hot tea had a temporary soothing effect on my throat that kept the discomfort at bay.
One thing about dairy products is that they are everywhere. It’s in cheese, milk, deserts, lattes, some breads and a plethora of other items. So avoiding dairy can be a challenge.
