I’ve been doing math.

I have been doing some basic math in order to brush up on my math skills. I have been doing this because of an article I wrote about our society and culture. In the article I talked about how people need to take control of their lives. One way that I am trying to take control of my life is by improving my math skills. Why math? Well, math is something that I have had some trouble with thru my life and even tho I have respected Mathematics, I never really had a love for math. This was because even tho many of the answers came to me along with passing grades, the realizations and epiphanies that make math great weren’t there. But now I am a great deal older and my patience has improved and I understand math more. I once read somewhere that the human brain of a male is ready for math in a more complete way when he hits his 20’s. I personally find this to be true.

So what is this excursion into Mathematics going to do for me? I think that the math will be enriching in everyday life as well as bringing opportunities toward me in the long term. I’d like to eventually study physics, but there is a great deal of math that I need to learn to prepare me for that. I’m thinking about taking some basic math courses at Orange Coast College in the Spring. Maybe I’ll have done enough prep math online courses to get me ready for Pre-Calculus. I have passed Pre-Calculus before when I went to UC Santa Barbara but I know my skills in Math is like swiss cheese. I still need help remembering how to work with fractions (that’s bad).

Here are some good links to free math resources online.

Khan Academy has tons of videos on youtube and a cool math program. Click here to visit Khan Academy and check out their Arithmetic all the way to Calculus.

I also found this site called Free-Ed.net it has links to videos that are very helpful for math. Take this link to go there now.

So I believe that by studying math I am setting myself to be a more effective member of society and perhaps I will have something to contribute if I persue Physics. I think that if Math and Science was studied and enjoyed in America to a greater extent then we would have a more powerful populace and better equipped consumers.

Leaving Babylon by Bluetech is a chill track

Listen to Leaving Babylon by Bluetech

Listen to Leaving Babylon by Bluetech

You should go to iMeem and listen to Leaving Babylon by Bluetech. It is a free streaming song that is excellent. The track is very chill but the way the songs twirls around and echoes itself is really tight. At 1 minute and 6 seconds the main theme enters and it will blow your mind. It is mostly instrumental and the electronic rythms bounce around like they are in a futuristic cave. This song Leaving Babylon, is from Bluetech’s Prima Materia Album.  The track has vocals near the end that are very cool. The vocals are both male and female and talk about finding “a place within” and other relaxing motifs.

I just downloaded the Call of the Wild EP and it sounds very nice! Here’s where you can download the entire EP for free with album art. I’m listening to “Abondon All Cities” right now and it is very funky and quirky with some intertestingly intricate rythms and beats. It’s a must listen.

I just got a shave and a haircut yesterday at the Coast Barber Shop in Corona del Mar. It was great! Fast Eddie wasn’t there yesterday so a great barber named Angel cut my hair. I was getting a shave and a haircut because I’m trying to wake up earlier. Basically I’m trying to motivate myself by shaving my beard as a way of saying I no longer want to be pulled around by my chin hairs in life. And I want to take control of what I do with myself. I want to blog more and wake up early.

So here’s how my shave and haircut went. First thing that happened was the shave. Angel sat me down in the chair and told me to put my feet up in the barber’s chair and he made me real comfortable. He then used clippers to cut off the beard and mustache. It felt weird to have so much hair removed from my face at once. I must have been growing my beard for at least 2-3 months. After that he leaned me back and covered my face in a hot towel. It was fun only being able to breathe out of my nose. Then Angel put some lotion on my face and massaged it in. He did a good job and I think this part is important because it helps prepare your face for the straight razor. Then he put warm shaving soap on me and started shaving away. He had skills with the straight razor and I was comfortable during the entire shave. I felt very little pulling pain and tugging that happens often during a straight razor shave.

Next Angel gave me a great haircut. He used clippers and scissors as usual but he took his time. There were people waiting in line to get their hair cut but Angel didn’t rush at all and gave me the full respect of someone who waited for his shave/haircut. I felt like I was a valued customer the entire time and after the haircut was all done I looked brand new. Today when I went into Starbucks to order my Caramel Macchiato, the Barista who knows me said I looked like I was 12 years old! I think he meant that I looked a lot younger. So go to Fast Eddie’s Coast Barbershop for a great Haircut and a Shave if you want to look fresh!
