Have you ever been to a club where people are slam dancing? I have, I was at a club in Rome back in 1993 called Club Crash. The place was empty but there was one guy on the dance floor slam dancing and making drastic moves to the pumping music. The lone dancer had the energy of 10 men and looked like he had the dancing skill to impress any lady with eyes in her head. At the time I was only 13 years old and I lacked the moves to dance with this stranger, but I knew that if I was equipped with the right armor then I’d have the guts to face him. Little did I know that 16 years later I’d encounter a DJ/Artist who actually has music that is so sick that he wears custom advanced body armor as he mixes up an audio storm! What DJ could I be talking about? I’m talking about the one and only master on a mixer, the tranquilizer with a turntable, the one and only…4TrakZ!

4TrakZ has a kickin’ EP out! It’s called Le Frere Lumiere – Episode 1 and the

music on this EP is well worth the download. You can visit 4TrakZ on MySpace to get more information on where to get Le Frere Lumiere  All the tracks on this EP are seriously solid for both Clubs and for listening on headphones. My two favorite tracks are Escape and Memories. Escape is track 2 on the Le Frere Lumiere and it makes me feel like I am on the run from a Techno Facility. Like I’m inside Ninja Gaiden 2: The Dark Sword of Chaos for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) The vocals in Escape track say something like, “To Escape…leave…enjoy your life!” The bass-line slaps you around like you are riding the low notes with magnetic boots. I love this song! Halfway through the track, stereo effects that have insect-like buzzing sounds bounce around your head. It adds atmosphere to Escape and keeps you on mission for your Escape!

4TrakZ has Powerful Armor!

Memories on Le Frere Lumiere is a seriously insane song. The bass-line touches you just like the vocals. The slaps are connected to bass line slides and the end effect creates a sound that could only be matched by a master musician if played live. Memories is one of those songs that a break dancer could slam and pop to on the dance floor. The breakdown at about 4 minutes is jazzy and sensual and leads the listener on an audio journey of pleasure. The lead synth takes control and guides you across a slippery landscape…covered in plastic and dew covered metallic facilities.

You need to visit 4TrakZ on MySpace now and get the information on how to get Le Frere Lumiere – Episode 1 now! This music is great for DJ’s to spin, and it’s also excellent for listening solo or in the car with friends. Listen to 4TrakZ, you will understand why I love the music!

The Fourth Kind of Trailer I am Scared of Aliens

I was at the theater, ready to watch District 9 when I saw a preview of an upcoming film, “The Fourth Kind.”  The trailer staring Milla Jovovich hit me hard. I was creeped out by the Sumerian reference to people in space suits. Here’s a link to the trailer for The Fourth Kind. I am a big fan of the Sumerians, and to think that they had contact with aliens startled me. The Fourth Kind movie could be total hogwash, but the mere suggestion of alien contact engaging humanity since ancient times boggled me.

For some reason or another, I’ve been afraid of aliens for a long time. Ever since I was about 10 years old I’ve been scared of them. I’m talking about all kinds of aliens, but especially the kind of alien with the large eyes and the long neck and the small mouth. One night when I was about 10 years old, it was raining outside our home in Illinois. The rain was loud and it was splashing against my windows. Then when it was really late, I looked across my wide bedroom, and saw ghostlike grey faces looking at me through the window. They were semi-transparent, and they scared me. The faces then started to move closer inside the room by passing directly into the house through the wall. They seemed to be not entirely corporeal, or having a body, they seemed to be somewhat mist like. When I saw the beings begin to enter through the wall I immediately pulled the sheets over my head and hid under the covers lying very still. At the time I believed that if I was very still and did not look at them, the creatures wouldn’t hurt me. I could feel that the beings were close and they were watching me for quite some time. Then after shuddering underneath my covers, I felt that the aliens had left. Still to this day I am not sure exactly what happened. Did I just imagine the whole thing? I know I was young and had an active imagination but it feels real even to this day.

There’s something about the “Grey” alien that scares me to the core. When I see their large eyes and small mouth, I’m reminded of something. They look so familiar. I remember seeing the movie “Fire in the Sky” with my dad when I was about 11 or 12 years old. That movie scared my face off.

Have you ever wondered what kind of music frogs listen to? They probably like music that has an upbeat tempo that uses plenty of bass to remind them of the pond. Frogs like to catch flies with their tongues so they would also enjoy music that has stereo effects that reminds them of flies buzzing around. Well CHMOG DA FROG,  a French experimental electronica band makes tunes that satisfies a frog’s taste in music. And the high quality rhythms and electronic effects sound great to people as well! CHMOG DA FROG just released a new song on their MySpace account, it’s called HYPERTROFIA and the song has a great strolling beat!

HYPERTROFIA opens with sounds of distorted piano and synth strings that buzz around in stereo, giving the listener the feeling that you are walking away from a well known pond and you’re going to have to find a new place to call home. Then at 25 seconds a sick beat kicks in and sets the tone for the rest of the song. The drum beat is a very clean hihat, kick and snare combination that has an almost rap – beat feel to it. Alongside the drums a bouncing bass line gives HYPERTROFIA a chill vibe that creates a good audio space, especially if you are wearing headphones or have a good speaker system. HYPERTROFIA is a very clean track that has a good amount of movement. The music at 2 minutes and 10 seconds is accented by melancholy strings that sound like they are from a somber film.

You should listen to HYPERTROFIA on MySpace by Clicking HERE. CHMOG DA FROG is a great band and they have other quality songs. I recommend you check out BOGZ once you get to CHMOG DA FROG’s MySpace page.

Play Classic Nintendo Games for Free Online! Nintendo8.com

CastleVania Front Door click here to play now!

About a week ago I was at Peet’s Coffee and Tea and I wanted to reminisce on some classic video games. The one that came to mind was CastleVania for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). So I typed CastleVania into Google and I was expecting to find some reviews on the great action game. But instead I found a link to this great site, Nintendo8.com!

Nintendo8.com is an online gaming area where you can play Classic Games on your computer online without downloading any additional software. The site uses a Java platform of an emulator called vNES. This Java version of the emulator allows people anywhere in the world to play classic games right in their Firefox or Internet Explorer browser. I was on my laptop so it was fun using the keyboard to control Simon from CastleVania. You use the arrow keys to move, and “Z” is the B button and “X” is the A button. You control star and select with the Enter and Control keys.

Play the Legend of Zelda Now!

Play the Legend of Zelda Now!

On the Nintendo8.com website you can play everything from The Legend of Zelda to Contra. The emulation quality is good. My only complaint is that the V-Sync (Vertical Synchronization) is a bit choppy when you move horizontally. So games like CastleVania are fun to play for nostalgia sake, the actual gaming experience is far better played on another emulator or an Original NES Console. One game that played very well was, The Legend of Zelda. The reason why it was good was because the screen stays relatively still, and it only moves when you shift from area to area. Here’s a link to the The Legend of Zelda on Nintendo8.com!

Overall if you want to kill some time while waiting for your drink to come at your local coffee shop, I definitely recommend nintendo8.com for your classic gaming needs. But if you want a hardcore gaming experience, nothing beats playing the games on an original NES Console! In order to play the games you will need Java installed on your computer. Here’s a link to where you can download JAVA.
