What’s new with Overidon on a Saturday Slice of Melon
This weekend has been a lot of fun. I have learned about levitation in India. It turns out that the levitation done by a great deal of performers in India use steel poles connected to chairs that are covered in garments in order to give the illusion that they are floating in the air. Now this isn’t to say that people can’t fly or levitate with superhuman powers. I’m just saying that the article I read was pretty compelling because it showed how easily it is to trick an audience into thinking one can levitate.
I also have eaten a good deal of honeydew melon. This tasted good. The rind was a bit stiff and crunchy and that made it feel substantial and excellent. I also played too many rounds of Hereoes of Newerth this is a game that reminds me of Tides of Blood, or Defense of the Ancients (Dota), these games were custom maps made for Warcraft III the Frozen Throne that were almost like their own games. In Hereoes of Newerth you play in a real-time-strategy environment to use a hero of your choice to help online friends in destroying your enemies. The game takes about 45 minutes to an hour and a half to play so make sure to bring some water. Hereos of Newerth is a fun game but if you haven’t played Defense of the Ancients before I reccommend that you prepare yourself to get yelled at by other players and being called “noob” or “stupid noob” alot. I’m still learning the game and I think the best thing to do for people who are starting out is to pick a hero that has a ranged attack like an agility hero like the Arach or Soulstealer and level up 2 skills only so that you don’t have to micro too much.

Tartufo Time at Rothchilds Restaurant and the Rigatoni was Great but the Panini was too Salty

I went to this semi-expensive restaurant in Corona del Mar, California today called Rothchild’s for lunch with my mom. Rothchild’s is a primarily Italian Restaurant, the food is good and the service is friendly too. If you aren’t prepared to spend at least $15-$20 per person I recommend that you go somewhere else. But if you want Italian food in a nice, semi-fancy environment with pleasant staff, then Rothchild’s is a great choice for Newport Beach dining.
My meal started with garlic bread that was covered in powdery cheese. That tasted good. I like the garlic bread because it is a bit crunchy and the shape of the bread is elliptical and slanted. So the garlic bread has a nice texture when you bite into it. I ordered The Pavarati Panini with Home Made Rigatoni with mushrooms in marinara sauce. The Pavarati Panini was made of bread and it had prosciutto inside it with brie cheese and asparagus tips. If you don’t know what prosciutto is, think of it as a salty thinly sliced ham. I personally think that the sandwich had too much prosciutto on it and the saltyness overpowered the flavor of the brie and the asparagrus. So the next time I go to Rothchild’s I am going to order something else. Also the color of the greenish pesto didn’t mesh very well with the panini. The pesto gave the sandwich a funky tint.
But the Home Made Rigatoni with mushrooms was superb. The rigatoni had the shape and texture of large pieces of calamari and I loved it. The rigatoni tasted so good. It was the perfect chewyness to softness with each bite. And the mushrooms were about the size of your thumb and they were prepared to perfection and had enough moisture per bite. The sauce in the Rigatoni was mild yet it was still compelling. I usually like a bit of spicyness with my rigatoni sauce but this was quite good. It tasted very fresh, and the pieces of tomato were recognizable.
For desert I ate a white chocolate Tartufo. This is a white chocolate covered ice cream dish that had raspberry sorbet in the middle. I really liked the raspberry sauce that covered the Tartufo! It was mildly sweet and very tasty. I was surprised because I expected the Tartufo to be super sweet. But it seemed to be just the perfect mix of flavors.
A little background information of Rothchild’s Restaurant…The place started as a Wine and Cheese spot over 30 years ago by its German owner. It was successful but the owner wanted to expand the business to include a seated fine dining environment. So Rothchild’s became a full fledged sit down restaurant. It has had the same owners for over 30 years, and only recently has new things been changed to Rothchild’s. The exterior has been redone and there is more lighting so you can find the place from East Coast Highway. Also the sandwich that I ate was a recent addition to the menu. Rothchild’s in on the corner of East Coast Highway and Begonia Avenue in Corona del Mar, California in the City of Newport Beach. This place may be pricy but if you want to have a nice meal with your parents or take someone on a romantic date, Rothchild’s could be the place for you!

Not many places on the internet are brimming with free downloadable DJ Live Sets of delectable Trance Music. So when I stumbled up CrystalClouds.com. I was really pleased to find myself drenched in excellent music. Crystalclouds.com is a great site because it is fast and it has tons of great features. First of all there is a great download area where you can download Full DJ Live-Sets of Trance Music. The music is organized by DJ and then separated by Project. So for example, I downloaded a Trance Set by Jon O’Bir, called Ways and Means 038. For you to get this DJ Live-Set you will first have to register for the site. If you haven’t registered for CrystalClouds yet you can take this link to become part of the website. After you register with CrystalClouds.com you will be able to participate in their forums, download mp3 live-sets and do other stuff. So now that you’re registered and logged in you can navigate to the download section. The download section is accessible by navigating to the Menu section on the left hand side of the screen. It’s depicted by a globe with a plug in it. And there is a flashing “NEW” sign next to the downloads section. Click here and you will be taken to the DJ list at the download page. To find the Live Set I’m listening to, navigate to Jon O’Bir on the middle right hand side of the page. The list is in alphabetical order by the first letter of the DJ name. So Jon O’Bir is right in between Hytex and Kenji Sekiguchi. Notice that you have two choices for things to click on. There is Jon O’Bir and there is also a sub-heading, “Ways and Means.” Jon O’Bir is the DJ name and there are downloads associated to that DJ. But the subheading “Ways and Means” is project that Jon O’Bir is working on. Both, DJ names and sub-headings have great tracks. I recommend that you listen and explore DJ names and their sub-headings to find tracks that you enjoy. After clicking on Ways and Means you’ll be taken to a list of his sets. All you need to do is navigate to “Ways and Means 038” by scrolling down the page and you’ll be able to click on the “Download now” link next to the date of the DJ Live Set.
Now that you know how to download Live Sets from CrystalClouds.com you should experiment and download a few. Remember to leave feedback at the forum on mixes that you download. This is a good way for other people to know quickly whether or not a mix is good or not. When you leave feedback you can rate the Live Set. Sometimes I just go through a set list and download ones with high rating. As a rule of thumb the ones with the higher number of ratings with the rating closest to 5.0 are the best. Other cool aspects to the forum are that you can see the tracklists for different Live Sets and read what people are saying. I need to start posting more. My problem is that I’ll download a Live Set and listen to it over and over again, because I like specific builds and swells. But I should really download more sets and leave more feedback in the forums. Maybe if I participated in the forums more I would have made more Crystal Clouds friends.
