Multiple YouTube Tabs

Multiple YouTube tabs in your browser is the new Media Player. In the past the big-deal phenomenon was having WinAmp or windows Media Player all set up for all your songs and media information. But now more and more people are using YouTube for all of their music and media needs. You can find a huge variety of songs on YouTube and then just stream them in a tab in your FireFox or Internet Explorer browser. The content is so streamlined and easily accessible that I have very little need to actually Download anything anymore. I can just stream music and information on YouTube. As for TV, I can use Hulu.com or TheWB.com for that. I barely find myself ever actually sitting in front of the television anymore. And since most record stores are basically extinct I stream most of my music. In the cases that I do want to purchase a hardcopy CD then I do so from Amazon.com or directly from an Artist’s official music page.

The interesting thing is this new paradigm in streaming multiple tabs of YouTube information at a time has only been made possible by advancements in several forms of technology. First of all, you need to have a computer that has enough processing power and RAM in order to handle the raw computing challenge of the open tabs. And let’s not forget that even though tabs have been around in browsers for several years, not everyone knew about them or made use of them. Do you remember running multiple windows of Internet Explorer at the same time in order to multitask? It was annoying and it was good that the minimize/maximize animation was always cool, or else we would have gotten bored fast. Anther major factor was the advent and wide spread proliferation of DSL, cable and T1 connection speeds to the internet. Without those fast connections, we wouldn’t be able to stream so many tabs of information at the same time. It is a real blessing.

Between multiple tabs, my YouTube favorites, and the auto-fill feature on most search boxes, there is no real reason to not have lightening fast access to whatever you want on the web. I have also noticed that in response to how so many people are posting music on YouTube, many official and intelligent record labels have been promoting their own YouTube channels and have been sharing Official Music videos and song releases. This is definitely a smart idea on the part of the savvy record labels. The main reason is that if people REALLY want to listen to your music, they are going to figure a way to get it. So instead of forcing people to have to meander around the system in order to satiate their audio desires, the Record Label can make their music widely available on YouTube. This way you can not only make it so people can listen to your music who already want to hear it. But it also provides a quick and trusted way for your artists to rapidly achieve Viral MEME status by letting people post links on their Facebook, blogs and other social media applications and sources. A known fact is that people love linking to YouTube on their Facebook. And if you have an artist that you love, there is sometimes a chance that literally millions of other people may be interested in sharing that link as well.

As computer users of this decade become more and more comfortable will have the entire internet at their fingertips in nanoseconds, it makes sense that the internet browser takes a more direct role in that experience. What I’ve noticed is that browsers that attempt to make small simple changes over time are more successful than browsers that try to rewrite the book and/or allow for spam and unwanted toolbars to infiltrate their browsing. I use Mozilla Firefox and that seems to provide the most streamlined and pleasurable online experience. I don’t want a stupid BingBar or amazon bar or any of that spam. I just want the browser and my toolbar favorites. Being able to customize the toolbar favorites by simply right clicking them and renaming them not only makes browsing easier on the eyes. But it also saves me a fraction of a second per browsing session. And since I use the computer for over 2 hours a day that means I am literally saving days per year just because I made my internet browsing experience more efficient. Having multiple tabs of YouTube not only compounds that efficiency, but it also allows me to quickly learn about new pieces of music or media that I might have not necessarily had the time to search for.

OK. Everybody knows about how you can re-use a teabag. But I don’t really like doing that. Tea Regeneration is a simple technique that WILL AMAZE YOU! This is how it works. You know how when you go to Starbucks and order let’s say, a Venti China Green Tips tea and it comes with 2 tea bags? Well what you can do is let the tea steep for about a minute or so. Steeping your tea means letting the tea bag sit submerged under the warm or hot water without being disturbed. This lets the flavor enter the water. Then when the tea gets to the desired flavor potency, I say, “Throw the tea bags out.” Don’t save them. Then when you drink about two-thirds of your tea and you have your paper cup. Take a look at the water. You should notice that the tea is actually a little bit darker than you first noticed it was originally. Well that’s actually the key. When you drink your tea, over time a lot of the particles fall down to the bottom. So the final gulps or sips of tea can become very strong and sometimes bitter. So in order to Regenerate Your Tea I suggest that you add clean safe water to your cup of tea after you drink most of it. If you add hot water to your tea it will be hot tea. If you add cool water it will be more like a refreshing chilled tea. This is a great technique to make your tea drinking experience last longer. And I’ve noticed that sometimes a cup of tea that I’ve been slowly sipping all day kind of gets, “lucky.” It is lucky in the sense that the tea has been charged by the energy from your hand and your body.

I feel that human beings have an aura and whenever we interact with objects or entities in our world our aura connects with those elements of reality. So when you hold your tea for hours and carry it with you on your adventures and have it chilling with you in your car, it absorbs some of your essence. Many spiritual people including some Buddhists bless their food and beverages before ingesting them. I think that is a smart idea. Why not send some good energy into whatever you are about to eat or drink? But the thing about tea is that it is a process more than just a beverage. Tea doesn’t have a tremendous amount of flavor or caffeine like coffee. It is a more subtle drink. So by adding water to it and savoring the energy in it, it can be tremendously refreshing. Be careful not to drink dirty tea, and only use clean healthy water also when doing this. I’d hate for anyone to get sick. Also double check the lid of your cup to make sure it isn’t nasty.

I’d recommend that you Regenerate Your Tea only by using Green tea. This technique doesn’t really work very well with herbal teas or black tea. It just doesn’t steep the same way or taste as good. If you are drinking black tea or herbal teas then you just might as well drink the whole thing.

I recently switched from drinking Lattes to drinking Green tea. The reasoning behind it is because I got sick recently and I think the dairy overload was a big part of it. Also the amount of caffeine I was ingesting was getting too much. 1 or 2 lattes per day is pretty nuts. So now I’m doing the green tea thing again and I’m feeling lighter on my feet and a little healthier.

As well as 7,396 overall visitors for the month to date. The last time we got close to this many viewers was June 2010 when we received 4,470 unique visitors and 6,492 overall visitors. This is important because now overidon.com is finally approaching its original goal: To disseminate information. According to Alexa.com this website as of today is ranked 2,679,773 globally. I know that doesn’t sound like much but the interesting thing is that the website has gone up in the rank by nearly one-million this past month. Which is kind of a big jump. But that means that there are still over two-million other websites that get more traffic than overidon.com.

As a bonus, here’s how you officially pronounce overidon: oh-v-air-eh-dawn

Some people pronounce it like: over-eye-dawn. And that’s cool, but that’s not the official pronunciation.

BREAKING NEWS! Yellow watermelon tastes different from regular watermelon! I speak the truth because I just ate some of both kinds over the past few days. Here are some of the major differences. The initial bite of the regular green and pink watermelon tastes sweeter for the fleshy parts. But the juice of the yellow or golden watermelon tastes sweeter than the regular kind. Also yellow watermelon almost reminds me slightly of banana flavored popsicles. Does this sound weird to you? Another cool thing about yellow watermelon is that is has a slightly different texture. It is a bit squishier and more wafer-like than regular watermelon. The yellow watermelon I ate recently had black seeds. So be careful with the seeds man!

Personally I like cutting my watermelon into triangle shaped pieces without any rind. I get rid of the rind. It is a lot more fun to eat watermelon without having to deal with eating around the rind. It is less work. And less work is the key to a better watermelon munching experience. I love mixing up eating watermelon after drinking my coffee or latte. It is a similar experience to eating some ginger root after a few pieces of sushi. It cleanses the palate for another sip to be enjoyed. The only difference is that the watermelon is hydrating and mildly sweet.

I noticed that some people call yellow watermelon, “Golden Watermelon.” I don’t think it looks gold. When I think gold I think of the interior of a Goa’uld Mothership, not this kind of watermelon. Speaking of Goa’uld, DANG I love this Stargate SG-1 show! I can’t tell you how many slices of watermelon I’ve consumed and lattes I’ve sipped while watching episodes of this show. I’m only on season 5 and I am having tons of fun with it.

Wikipedia says that the flavor of yellow watermelon has a “honey” taste to it. I can agree with that to an extent. But I still think it tastes like banana popsicles.

Fortunately, the Overidon Laptop is up and running again! Big thanks to Device Repair for replacing the hard drive and installing Windows 7. They did a great job. Now I am running Windows 7 and it is quite faster than Windows Vista on this computer. One thing that I noticed is that Windows 7 uses these interesting transparent windows. When I click on the Start Button it looks pretty similar to Vista except that the right hand side of the window is translucent and I can see the window behind it. It is a really nice perk because you always have an idea of what you’re looking at. Also when I hover the icons on the taskbar, I can see small previews of the programs that are running. So when I hover over the Mozilla Firefox icon, I can see this post that I’m writing right now, and also my Facebook page. And I can easily select which window I want to view. Minimizing and maximizing and restoring windows is much easier now. By simply dragging the top of a window to the top of the screen, Windows automatically thinks that I want to maximize. It’s pretty amazing and very intuitive.

In order to get the wireless working again since I forgot my wireless password, I had to hard-reset my router. The router came with this graphically intense software for the Linksys. I remember when we first set it up, it took literally over an hour to install and configure the software, maybe even two hours. But this time I didn’t even have to install the software from the CD in order to get it to work. The router came with built in, web based software that I was able to access by being plugged into the thing and entering 192.168.1.1 into my browser. It didn’t take long at all to get back online. And this time I made sure to keep the wireless password information in a place where I remember.

It’s going to take a while to install all the software that I had originally on this laptop. But at least now I have a 500 gig hard drive to store data. Before I only had a 150 gig hard drive and that was barely enough. I’m not exactly sure how my old hard drive got bad sectors. But I am going to make sure to back up my data often in order to avoid problems.

So it seems I spoke too soon in my previous article about how I “Solved My Computer Problems.” I rebooted the computer, was able to blog yesterday, and even got to play a few hours of the awesome game, “Master of Magic.” Everything was going great so I went to sleep around 2AM this morning thinking of giant Stag Beetles crawling around and breathing fire on enemy villages and unsuspecting heroes. But when I woke up and ate breakfast and turned on my computer, I had the exact same loading problem that I had yesterday and the day before! I was really perplexed by the mystery of what was wrong with my computer. And I exhausted most of my ideas on what might be the problem. I had already run and anti-virus scan, I updated most of my drivers except I wasn’t able to update my video card drivers. I also already ran disk cleanup and disk defrag, so I was running out of ideas. Then I got the idea that maybe I could use “System Restore” to restore my computer to a previous state and it was my hope that using a previous system restore point would fix my computer.

Well I ran System Restore and it took about 45 minutes to complete the process on my laptop. And guess what happened? My computer took forever to load and when it finally got to the desktop screen with the sidebar thing, my computer kept accessing my hard drive over and over again. And I wasn’t even able to do something simple like deleting a program shortcut on the desktop. At this point I became frustrated and a bit worried that I was starting to do more damage to my computer than good. So I decided to take my computer down to friends at Device Repair. It was really a bummer having to take my computer in to get fixed. For me, taking a computer into the shop is like having a lung removed so it can be repaired. I can live without it temporarily, but I sure miss it a lot. Right now I am writing this article on my mom’s computer. That’s the cool thing about using WordPress to make a blog. Oftetimes you can write your posts from anywhere that you can jump on the internet. Using someone else’s computer is kind of wierd. You don’t have all your bookmarks, and you have to type in the password for everything. On my computer I have the websites that I use most often loaded onto my Firefox toolbar that is at the top of the browser. Little things like that only speed up the process by a second or so, but when you think about it, adding a bookmark that you use multiple times per internet session into the toolbar can end up saving you several hours over the course of a year or so. It all depends on how much you use the computer.

Starbase 375 from Deep Space 9

So something funny and cool happened to me when I went to Starbucks today. I ordered a Venti Iced Caramel Macchiato because it was hot out. And then the cool girl who I know who was the barista asked me how my day was going. I told her that I was kind of bummed out because my computer was having problems. And then she said, “I thought you fixed your computer already?” And then I thought to myself in surprise, “How does she know this? Is she psychic?” But then she said that she read about my computer on my blog. And I thought that that was really cool! I know that I get a lot of people who read this blog around the world, in places like Canada and Australia and The United Kingdom and here in Newport Beach. But it was very fun to have someone know something about me before telling them personally.

So now it is up to the computer masters at Device Repair to solve the mystery of what’s wrong with my computer. Until it is fixed it looks like I will be will be blogging from alternate computers. Right now I know how it must have felt for the crew of Star Trek Deep Space 9 when they got kicked off their space station and had to coordinate their strategic planning from Starbase 375. It was a interesting time in the show because you got to see the crew adapt to a new base of operations and they didn’t have all the comforts of home.

Over the past few days I’ve been having some computer problems. My Microsoft Vista Laptop has been having trouble starting properly. The computer will boot up, then prompt me for my password. But after the main desktop shows up and begins to load the programs in the bottom right of the screen and the gadgets on the sidebar, the computer would stop loading. The little light that says whether or not the hard disk is being accessed would blink every 10 seconds or so, but it wouldn’t do any real work. When I would click on the “Start” button, nothing would happen, and I’d be lucky if I’d get the spinning blue circle thingy to pop up. So my computer was just hanging there and I tried pushing my power button but nothing worked. DISCLAIMER – I AM NOT GIVING YOU ADVICE ON WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR COMPUTER I AM JUST TELLING A STORY ABOUT MY COMPUTER. IF YOU FOLLOW ANY OF THE STEPS THAT ARE PRESENTED IN THIS ARTICLE BY READING THIS YOU HEREBY ACCEPT THAT YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK.

So then I unplugged my laptop, shut it, then removed the battery. This does a rather unpleasant shut down for the computer, but it was all I knew how to do to shut it down. Then the next day I talked to this cool girl at my Starbucks and she said that I could just hold down the power button on my laptop and if I held it long enough it would power down. So I tried it her way and it worked! So when I restarted the computer I was prompted with the option of safe mode, or a bunch of other options. I decided to use safe mode. I wasn’t exactly sure what the problem was, so I did a virus scan. The virus scan said that I had a few viruses in my email and that it took care of them but I wasn’t satisfied that that was the only problem. I also ran the disk defragmenter program and disk cleanup. The whole process took a long time and I remember eating a lot of watermelon while waiting. I also deleted Skype from my computer because that was the last program I installed before I had my problem. So I restarted my computer and things booted normally and I thought the computer was fixed.

Then a few restarts and one day later the same problem happened again and I wasn’t able to finish loading up my computer. I was perturbed but I didn’t give up. So this time I restarted the computer and went into safe mode again. I tried running Windows Update, to see if I was missing any drivers. The reason why I did this was because I ran this one Widows diagnostic program, (I can’t remember what program it was that did this) and it said I was having driver issues. But when I tried running Windows Update in safe mode nothing happened, even though I had networking enabled. So then I read that if I held F8 while booting the computer I would be presented with advanced booting options. So I restarted the computer and held down F8 but my computer wouldn’t get past the first screen. So then I let go of F8 and passed the screen, and then held it down again. Then I was prompted with the Advanced Boot Options screen. I then chose the option of “Restart the Computer with the Last known Good Configuration.” That at least got my computer to boot. But then I remembered that I tried that once before and that was only a temporary fix to my problem. So I tried running Windows Update. It took a little while but I downloaded 5 updates to my computer, 2 Important Updates and 3 Optional Updates that related to system drivers.

I restarted my computer with the new updates and it loaded up the desktop about twice as fast as usual and now I’m able to write this blog post so I guess it worked.
