Beverage Font Differences

Watermelon JUICE!!!! Click to watch video

I bought some Watermelon Juice from Trader Joes today and I noticed something funny. The font for the juice log was totally different from my Fiji Water. The Trader Joes watermelon juice was all wiggly and wraggly and it looked like it was made by either a very thoughtful artist or else a child who had been deprived of neural-transmitters for several days.

On the other hand the Fiji water logo looked all civilized and prim and proper. It made me think of tranquility and relaxation and even confidence with each sip. But the watermelon juice was saying to me, “HEY it’s time to surf the net and PARTY!!! Let’s see what we can see, baby!”

This begs the question, “What is the decision-making process for these fonts and logos.” Wanna know what I think is going on? Demographics!!! They target people who like watermelon juice I bet as sassy people who are a little bit on the wild-side. That’s my guess.

Watch the video and decide for yourself!

Corona del Mar hailstorm and Serious Thunder

Corona del Mar - Hailstorm

Corona del Mar - Hailstorm - CLICK FOR VIDEO

The second hailstorm on April 8th, 2011 at 9PM was a violent one indeed. Although the size of the hail pellets were only the size peas. The amount of hail was quite numerous. The ground crunched under my boots as I walked on the sidewalk. And when I finally got to the park, the grass looked like it was covered in snow, but it was actually just hail. It was very strange.

It is odd that we are getting this much hail. What is even stranger is how there has been such intense weather reported all over the world these past few months. Earthquakes in New Zealand and Japan…and now hail in Newport Beach? When the lightning struck I was impressed, I actually saw the reflection of the lightning on the shimmeringly wet sidewalk. But the thunder that came a few seconds later made me say, “WOOOOO!” and I started laughing a lot! My dog, Harvest who was also reporting live, wanted to go home when the thunder came. But I told her that we had a mission to accomplish and that we had to get to the bottom of this!

Here’s a video so you can see exactly how much hail was on the front porch area.

Hail in Corona Del Mar

Hail!

It was hailing in Corona del Mar today when I was on my way to the gym. There was just a small patch of clouds that became dark and then lobbed small hailstones down with fervor. The hail storm only lasted for about 5 minutes but it was quite exciting. The stones were much smaller than the ones pictured to the left. They were only slightly larger than peas. But I could feel them even though I was wearing a hooded sweatshirt. It was fun to be hit by the hail. The sensation was invigorating and exciting. But I was thankful that the hail wasn’t much larger than it was, because if that was the case I would have gone home. The beauty of the small storm was that after its short span, a clear light was visible throughout the town. And the sun shone down golden rays upon the buildings, plants and people.
